Why Swap?

  • Many mainstream lipstick products contain palm oil which is often linked to deforestation not usually farmed in a sustainable way

  • There are unfortunately still many beauty brands which test of animals and many that use animal-derived ingredients, making them unsuitable for vegans

  • Red colourings like cochineal, also known as E120 or Natural Red 4, are derived from beetles

The Alternatives

Looking for eco-friendly lipstick which doesn't just pay lip-service to sustainability can be hard, which is why we're here to help. Look for our palm oil-free accreditation, and watch out the the other monikers palm oil can appear under on ingredient lists, including 'palmolein', 'glyceryl' and 'stearate'. It's worth also considering alternatives to lipstick like lip oil and lip stain, which can be made at home using fewer, more natural ingredients and containers you already own and which can be reused multiple times afterwards.

Palm Oil-Free Lipstick

Palm oil is commonly found in lipstick and has a very negative impact on the environment due to the way it's intensely farmed. Look for our palm oil-free accreditation, and watch out the the other monikers palm oil can appear under on ingredient lists, including 'palmolein', 'glyceryl' and 'stearate'.
